Bracero

Phil Ochs (1940-1976) var inte bara sångagitator – han skildrade i sina sånger också på ett mänskligt plan olika delar av amerikanskt samhällsliv. Ett exempel är sången ”Bracero”.

Bracero kallas de mexikanska säsongarbetare som kommer över till Californien för att skörda frukt. I den här sången får den mexiknske migranten ett ansikte och ett liv.

”Bracero” är skriven 1965 och kom först på Phil Ochs’ LP ”Phil Ochs In Concert” (Elektra EKS 7310, 1966). Den finns också på samlings-CDn ”There But For Fortune” (Elektra 960832-2, 1989) och i 3 CD-boxen ”Farwells & Fantasies” (Elektra Traditions R2 73518, 1997, distribution Rhino).
