Gao Feng & Shi Hong: The Model of Swedish Social Democracy

För första gången i livet ställs jag inför att få en tjock bok, vars innehåll jag är jätteintresserad av men som jag inte kan läsa. Den är nämligen skriven på kinesiska.

Mitt intresse beror på att boken, på engelska ”The Model of Swedish Social Democracy” (redaktörer och översättare Gao Feng och Shi Hong, Central Compilation & Translation Press, 2009), innehåller den svenska socialdemokratins samtliga program, bland andra programmen från 1975 och 1990 som jag var huvudsekreterare för, plus de programintroduktioner jag skrev för boken ”Socialdemokratins program 1897 till 1990” (redaktör Klaus Misgeld, Arbetarrörelsens arkiv och bibliotek, 2001).

Även andra svenskar har medverkat till den här volymen, en introduktion till svensk socialdemokrati avsedd för kinesisk publik. Så vitt jag förstår ingår bland annat Ingvar Carlssons och Anne-Marie Lindgrens skrift ”Vad är socialdemokrati?”. Också Björn von Sydow har skrivit om den svenska socialdemokratins programutveckling.

För min medverkan i den här boken blev jag kontaktad av Gao Feng, under en rad år anställd på den kinesiska ambassaden i Stockholm. Som han förklarade projektet för mig, var avsikten att i Kina introducera den form av demokratisk socialism den svenska socialdemokratin hade valt.

Jag kan alltså, på grund av noll kunskaper i kinesiska, inte själv bedöma, vilken bild den här boken sammantaget ger dess kinesiska läsare, men jag läser, icke utan entusiasm, de konklusioner som finns på ett medföljande introduktionsblad på engelska:

”1. The Swedish Social Democratic Party is a real workers party which has fought for the interest of the Swedish people over hundred years. It has helped the Swedish wage earners get the bigger share of national income against the capital than other countries in the world. But its struggle against capital means only its fighting against the discrimination and exploitation the wage earners by the capitalists. Equality of all classes and individualists is the basic principle of democratic socialism.

2. Social Democracy stated in its latest Party Program that Historic Materialism is the basis of its ideology at a time when many communists deleted Marxism from their program. It stated that SAP will represent the workers in its struggle against the capital and will always fight against capitalists attempt to dominate the society. All its programs and practice shows the Social Democracy is a Swedish version of pragmatic faction of Marxism.

3. Democracy, freedom, equality and solidarity are socialist values which have nothing to do with apitalist class. Without these basic values there will be no socialism.

4. The socialist transformation is a long process. With the characters of democracy, developed economy, social welfare and relatively small social differences Sweden is taking a lead in this process.

5. It is a result of the hard work, firm struggle and rich creation of Swedish People and Social Democratic Party. At the same time it is result of the development of productive force and progress of society which is proved by the similar development of different degree in many other developed countries. It is therefore important for China to study and learn the experience of the Swedish Model on the way to build Socialism of Chinese Characteristics.”

Ja, vad ska man säga? Måtte allt det här bli verklighet, åtminstone i Kina.
